Imam Al-Suyuti mentioned in his book (Al-Itqan fi Ulum Al-Quran) nearly twenty names of Surah Al-Fatihah that includes titles and characteristics of the Surah, which were carried out on the tongues of the readers among the ancestors and successors.
The many names of Surah Al-Fatihah implies the nobility of the Surah.
However, only a few are validated by the prophetic tradition, namely Fatihah Al-Kitab (the opening of the book), As-Sab’ Al-Mathaani (the seven lengthies) and Ummul Quran or Ummul Kitab (The Mother of the Book or the Mother of the Quran).
